The cold is what comes next.
A little before dawn, the Bhote Koshi came down through Timure, Rasuwagadhi and Syabrubesi carrying everything it could lift. By the time it reached the Trishuli it had torn through settlements along seventy-two kilometres of valley. One community of 250 households is simply gone.
Many of those families had already been moved once, resettled onto those riverbanks after the 2015 earthquake took their first homes. They have now lost the second one.
The survivors are in tarpaulin shelters at 1,400 metres and above. The monsoon has not stopped. They need blankets, raincoats and dry, warm clothes, and they need them before the nights get colder.

This is a clothing and shelter drive, not a general collection. Every item below is something relief teams on the ground are actively asking for.
Most urgent
Blankets & warm bedding
Syabrubesi sits at 1,460 m. Families sleeping under tarpaulin face single-digit nights.
Raincoats & umbrellas
The monsoon has not stopped. Rain keeps falling on people who have no roof left.
Warm clothes: jackets, sweaters, thermals
Most survivors left with what they were wearing. Adult and child sizes both needed.
New or nearly-new everyday clothes
Clean, unworn or lightly worn clothing preserves dignity in a shelter queue.
Tarpaulin & shelter sheets
The first thing every relief agency on the ground is asking for.
Also needed
Children's clothing & school items
Hundreds of the missing and displaced are children. Small sizes run out first.
Hygiene & dignity kits
Soap, sanitary pads, toothpaste, towels. Sealed and unused only.
Kitchen utensils & water containers
Families cooking in shared shelters have no pots, plates or jerrycans.
Shoes, slippers & socks
People walked out over debris. Dry footwear prevents infection.
